Crazy Creepy
$289.00 / Coming Soon
Time to get crazy! Here’s a fun little fuzz from the land the rising sun. Built in the 70’s by Guyatone, the Crazy Face was also known as the “Fuzzie” or “Crazy Tone”. Created as a budget alternative to the Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face hence the round enclosure and general face aesthetic.
Slight changes to the circuit greatly altered the bias and tone. From my assumptions components were sourced more for their price and availability than their adherence to the fuzz face circuit. This resulted in a wildly overbiased and a lot of times far too gated fuzz. Finding a good one can be a gamble. The Creepy Fingers “Crazy Creepy” is here to make sure you win that bet.
Featuring a pair of N.O.S. Matsushita 2SB54 germanium transistors the Crazy Creepy has features added to either tame the wild sound or let it loose. Paying tribute to the original graphics the first 25 will have custom made mini witch hat knobs. As with the Creepy Fingers Creepy Face, the pedal can be powered via an internal charge pump for external power supplies or switched to vintage correct unfiltered 9v battery power via the internal dip switch.
Smooth taper fuzz control lets you dial in various shades of fuzz. The “Crazy” knob when turned left gets you in fuzz face territory. Rich smoky germanium texture and sparkling clean up with the guitar volume. Turned to the right the circuit becomes overbiased. This will get you the ragged, gated, psychedelic sounds of the best vintage units and anywhere between. Housed in custom Creepy Fingers enclosures, modern updates include: true bypass input grounded switching, switchcraft jacks, and led indication. Although adorable the originals were not cut out for life on the road. Currently out of stock but will return towards the end of Summer. Email [email protected] to get on the wait list!
